Dr. Elizabeth Bankah is the new Board Chair of diabetes youth care. She brings her experience of working with adolescents living with chronic diseases in Ghana to support young ones living with diabetes in Ghana. Elizabeth is a family physician working with Greater Accra Regional Hospital. her goal is to strengthen support networks with young people living with diabetes to ensure they meet their fullest potential

In my field of work, I have noted the influence of support groups on the people living with chronic diseases. Diabetes in young people has a major impact on the young ones themselves, their families and the community in which they live. DYC is making headway in making a positive impact and I want to help this grow.

I hope to mentor and help with youth leadership programs to promote the growth and development among these amazing warriors.

Marc Dzradosi

Dr Dzradosi has been volunteering with diabetes Youth Care for more than 8 years, his love for supporting young people and their families living with diabetes has been unmatched by his experience in Hospital based Clinical Pharmacy Services, Academia, Research, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science. He is one of very few formally trained Clinical Pharmacy Specialists in Cardiac and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy, Medication Therapy Management and Disease State Management resident in Ghana. He is currently the Head of Pharmaceutical Services at the International Maritime Hospital.

My name is Nana Durowaah Oduro Yeboah. I have been living with type 1 diabetes for 12 years. I am the Vice President of Diabetes Youth Care. I work closely with the President to execute activities. Everyday, I come into contact with people who think diabetes is a death sentence. During my tenure, I will actively advocate to eradicate these harmful beliefs. #diabeteswontstopus

Hello, I’m Emmanuella Owusu Asante. I’ve navigated life with diabetes for 13 years. Currently serving as the Deputy Organizing Secretary of Diabetes Youth Care, I play a key role in supporting our mission. Organizing events, inspiring the youth living with diabetes and also helping spread awareness about diabetes, my responsibilities aim to empower the youth living with diabetes not to give up, because DIABETES WONT STOP US.. My advice: embrace a positive mindset, prioritize self-care, and remember that you’re not alone in this journey.

My name is Adarkwah Nathan Amoateng. I’ve been a diabetic since 2006. Currently, the Deputy Secretary for Diabetes Youth Care and assist the the General Secretary in his or her roles. My advice would be, keep doing you and diabetes won’t stop you.

SELASIE HORMENOO

Hello I am in the person of Hormenoo Emmanuella Selasi, 23 years of age and been living with diabetes for 3 years. I am the general secretary of Diabetes Youth Care and I basically document meetings held by the organisation and the various regions, keep records and assist in other fields required.
The advice I’d give is that do not let diabetes hold you back from achieving your goals, weaponize it as the motivation to push for change and show the world that diabetes can’t stop you.

My name is Abdul Ganiyu Faiza. I have been a diabetic for 18 years. I am the Organizing secretary of DYC and my roles are: Making sure welcoming information is useful and relevant to new and returning members, Explaining the rules and regulations of the group to our members, During event, explain how people can get involved and send notes to group, Maintaining orders by identifying problems and resolving conflicts among teams. My advice to you my fellow diabuddies and you out there is, let all take very good care of ourselves, follow what ever our medics instruct us to do. We should keep on using our insulins and Diabetes will never stop us. Long live DYC.

I help in overseeing the affairs of the executives and supporting the administrator.
My advice to the young ones living with diabetes is, don’t let diabetes define you. You are stronger than you think.
